Who We Are
There Are Close To A Billion People Living In Hunger
Against Global Hunger Exists To Reduce Those Numbers.
We Do This By Providing A High-nutrition Food That Is Packaged By Volunteer Youth And Community Groups.
Headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Against Global Hunger, Inc is a 501C3 non-profit charitable organization.
Volunteers and organizations team up with us to package highly-nutritious food and distribute right here in Oklahoma and around the USA.
We work with missionaries, humanitarian organizations and other partners around the world to get this much needed food into the hands to those who need it most.
Partnerships are the lifeblood of this organization. We cannot do it without caring partners, volunteers and donors!!
Against Global Hunger’s mission is to significantly reduce the number of hungry and malnourished children and families in the U.S. and around the globe with fully nutritious food.
We do this by providing high-nutrition meals that are packaged by volunteer youth and community groups.
We work with food aid organizations to make sure the food is being distributed to families in need.
The approach of AGH is different from other feeding programs who only seek to fill a child’s stomach.
We use the highest nutrition possible and quality ingredients in order to reverse the effects malnutrition and starvation in the human body.
With protein, vitamins and minerals, and important amino acids our food feeds the brain, as well as the body, enabling children to go to school and learn.
We aim to feed the recipient mind, body and spirit.
Our commitment to the volunteer driven model inspires community groups to package life-saving meals. The packaging event is educational, engaging and meaningful.
To date, AGH projects have distributed over 14 million meals of our specially formulated food to hungry families in the United States and to malnourished and starving children in over 80 countries around the world.
We are quick to reach out to areas that have suffered natural disasters, economic hardships, and refugee areas where living conditions are unstable and unsafe.
ABOUT OUR FOUNDERS
Marshall and Sherry Horn
In 1999 Marshall & Sherry Horn Tulsa business owners met Richard Proudfit, the founder of Feed my Starving Children and Kids Against Hunger.
Proudfit was a businessman and humanitarian from Minneapolis who served on a mutual board with Horn. When they met they immediately clicked and began their journey working together to feed the hungry throughout the world.
The mission to feed those in need became Marshall and Sherry’s full focus and in 2005, they started operating what is now known as Against Global Hunger in Tulsa. Their life’s work has been to inspire others to join them in feeding families near and far. The stories of miraculous recovery and restoration are countless. Their commitment and efforts have helped to deliver millions and millions of meals to those in need at home and around the world.
In 2020 at the age of 84, Marshall resigned his position and appointed Letitia Williams to carry the torch as Chairman of The Board. In retirement, the Horn’s continue to serve in various areas of the community.
why is child hunger a problem?
Millions of children around the world do not have access to nutritious food and undernutrition is a significant factor affecting child mortality. AGH is actively working to get food into the hands of those who need it most.
How does hunger affect a child?
Research reveals an association between delayed development, stunted growth, greater risk of chronic illnesses and behavioral problems in school-age children. There is a strong connection between hunger and malnourishmnent in childhood and long term health conditions like heart disease and diabetes.
